Trump to Meet with New York Mayor Mamdani

President of the United States Donald Trump announced today that he will meet tomorrow in the Oval Office with Zohran Mamdani, whom he defined as “the communist mayor of New York City.” “The communist mayor of New York City, Zohran ‘Kwame’ Mamdani, has requested a meeting. More details to come soon!”, Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, according to the Argentine News Agency. Mamdani, the first Muslim and South Asian mayor of the country's largest city, defeated former Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa in the New York general elections earlier this month, following a progressive campaign focused on affordability and social services. During the campaign, Trump repeatedly attacked the 34-year-old democratic socialist, calling him a “communist,” endorsed his opponent Cuomo, and warned that he could cut federal funding to New York City if Mamdani won. Earlier this month, Mamdani reiterated his willingness to speak with Trump but stated he would reject any conversation that takes place “at the expense of New Yorkers.” In his post, Trump did not shy away from the nickname “Kwame,” which means “born on Saturday” in his Ghanaian Akan culture. It has been agreed that this meeting will take place in the Oval Office on Friday, November 21.
